Cattafi's research pioneers cosmopolitan approaches to universal citizenship, reimagining educational models for global citizenship beyond national frameworks. His scholarship critically examines European citizenship experiments as blueprints for transnational governance, with particular focus on residence rights for non-EU citizens, human rights protection mechanisms, and the transformation of political identity in post-Westphalian systems. Current work explores digital citizenship frameworks and migration ethics through interdisciplinary lenses combining legal theory, political philosophy, and human rights practice.
His publications reveal consistent engagement with international law evolution, European integration challenges, and innovative pedagogical methodologies. Key thematic clusters include cosmopolitan governance structures, critical analysis of international criminal proceedings (notably genocide cases), and COIL-based educational frameworks for multicultural legal education. Recent works increasingly address transparency mechanisms in human rights enforcement and Latin American perspectives on global governance.
Award highlights:
- National ethics education recognition (Tecnológico de Monterrey, 2014)
- Best master's thesis award at 42nd Research Congress (2012)
