Carme Silva-Dominguez

Carme Silva-Dominguez is a Professor of Galician Language at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), based on the Lugo campus. She is affiliated with the Department of Galician Philology and the Galician Language Institute (ILG). Her research focuses on syntactic change in Galician, linguistic attitudes of migrants and returnees to Galicia, and historical syntax.

Education: She earned a Doctorate from USC in 2001 with a thesis titled *Approach to the structure of the nominal phrase in Galician, phrases with possessives from medieval to modern synchrony*, supervised by Dr. Francisco Xabier Varela Barreiro.

Research Interests: Her work bridges syntactic analysis across historical periods and sociolinguistic studies of migration impacts on language. She contributes to the FILGA research group (Galician Philology and Linguistics).

Labs/Teams: Active member of the FILGA research group at the Galician Language Institute.
