Carlyn Muir is Associate Professor (Research) and Associate Director (Education) at Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC). Her work focuses on safety science in complex systems, particularly occupational safety for emergency services and road safety interventions.
Muir leads the Emergency Services Research team, examining paramedic wellbeing, emergency vehicle operations, and community safety interventions. As WHO Collaborating Centre coordinator, she develops global violence and injury prevention programs.
Her research has influenced safety policies internationally, including COVID-19 response strategies in South Africa, alcohol sensor technologies, and ambulance safety frameworks. Muir designs professional development courses on safety governance and evidence-based practice for global audiences.
Honors include:
