Dr. Carly Reed is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at SUNY Brockport. She holds a PhD from The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on synthesizing iridium(III) complexes for G-quadruplex DNA binding and fluorescent sensing applications. She serves as the Chemistry Advisement Coordinator and teaches courses including College Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Analytical Chemistry laboratories.
Dr. Reed has been actively involved in academic service: she was a member of the Rochester ACS Undergraduate Travel Awards Committee (2022), Rochester Women Chemists Committee (2021–2022), and an ACS Project SEED Summer I Faculty Mentor (2018). She also co-advised the National Conference of Undergraduate Research (2014, 2017) and acted as an Argonne National Lab REU Faculty Liaison (2013–2016).
Her research emphasizes label-free fluorescent sensors for metal ions and small molecules, leveraging luminescent properties of synthesized compounds. While no specific publications are listed here, her work bridges inorganic synthesis and bioanalytical applications, reflecting her expertise in material design for diagnostic purposes.
