Carlos Vecina Merchante

Dr. Carlos Vecina Merchante is a tenured senior lecturer at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), where he teaches courses in Social Education, Teacher Training, and Vocational Education. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) and has extensive experience with the National University of Distance Education (UNED). His academic roles include teaching final degree projects, practical placements, and sociocultural promotion programs in Social Education.

Education: Holds a PhD in Educational Research and Innovation from UIB, alongside degrees in Political Science, Sociology, and Social Education. His professional background spans community development, social research, and roles at Palma City Council and non-profits.

Research focuses on community development, migration, vocational education (VET), and educational inequality. He is a member of the LABVET research group and has authored over 100 scholarly works, emphasizing applied research in education and social policy.
