Carlos Martinez

Carlos Martinez is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Art, Cooper Union. A visual artist exploring creative freedom through analytic pluralism, he holds an MFA in Painting from Yale University and a BFA from Cooper Union. His work investigates subjectivity and formalism through diverse techniques, including improvised geometric abstractions resembling holograms.

With 20 years of professional practice, Martinez teaches drawing and geometric abstraction to students aged 16-25. His pedagogy emphasizes technical rigor and conceptual exploration within contemporary visual culture.
