Carlo Quintelli is a Full Professor in Architectural and Urban Composition at the Department of Engineering and Architecture, University of Parma, where he has been a foundational figure since the establishment of the Faculty of Architecture in 1999. He holds a PhD from IUAV and a degree from the Polytechnic University of Milan. He has held significant leadership roles including Vice-Director of his Department and Pro-Rector for Building and Infrastructure, overseeing the innovative MASTERCAMPUS strategy. He is also a member of CSAC and national scientific qualification committees.
- Graduated in Architecture, Polytechnic University of Milan, 1982

Quintelli's research centers on the interplay between architecture and urban form, with a focus on typological analysis, urban regeneration, university campus integration, and health-centered architecture. His work emphasizes the role of architecture in shaping civic identity and sustainable urban development, particularly in the Emilian context and through initiatives like CITTAEMILIA and the Festival of Architecture. He explores themes such as post-industrial transformation, emergency architecture, and the cultural significance of infrastructure.
The analysis of his recent publications reveals a consistent engagement with urban centralities, community spaces, and architectural theory. His work bridges historical critique with contemporary design challenges, particularly in health, housing, and post-event urbanism (e.g., post-Expo). He frequently investigates how architectural interventions can regenerate marginalized areas and reinforce regional identities, especially along the Via Emilia corridor. His editorial leadership in the 'Archè project' series and Festival Architettura Edizioni further amplifies his influence in architectural discourse.
Quintelli has led numerous multidisciplinary and international research projects, including EU-funded Erasmus programs and inter-university collaborations across Emilia-Romagna. He has organized major forums and workshops, such as the Kent State Forum and the Parma-Granada bilateral workshop, fostering academic exchange and applied research. He has also directed PhD scholarship programs and advised regional urban policy, notably in landscape and regeneration guidelines.
He is the Chief Science Officer of the MASTERCAMPUS research initiative and has led experimental projects such as the photovoltaic square-garden, new engineering library, student residences, and the Food Project Centre. He founded the Festival of Architecture and the publishing house Festival Architettura Edizioni, creating platforms for architectural dialogue and dissemination. His work with CSAC as head of the 'Architecture' section underscores his commitment to archival and communicative practices in architecture.
