Carlo Andreotti is a Professor in the Faculty of Agricultural, Environmental and Food Sciences at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (unibz). Dr. Andreotti is affiliated with the Tree Ecophysiology and Ecosystems research group where his work focuses on the exchange of carbon, mineral nutrients, water, and energy between soil, plants and atmosphere in managed tree ecosystems.

His research aims to develop more sustainable production systems with special attention to resource use efficiency (nutrients and water) and carbon storage. He integrates techniques including micrometeorology, ecophysiological methods, stable isotopes, tree biometry, and modeling. Recent publications highlight his work on abiotic stress management in horticultural crops and biochar as a soil amendment.

Dr. Andreotti participates in the Alliance for Fruit, Wine, and Vegetable Farming, formalized during the Interpoma trade show with an agreement signed by Rector Prof. Alex Weissensteiner. His research demonstrates commitment to addressing key challenges in sustainable agriculture and improving crop resilience through physiological understanding of tree systems.
