Carlijn van Emmerik is Lecturer in Applied Physics at the University of Twente. Her RENOS project focuses on developing rare-earth doped on-chip light sources combining potassium double tungstate materials with high-contrast waveguides.
Research includes creating tunable crystalline waveguide lasers for applications in optical sensing, spectroscopy and telecommunications. She has developed novel RF magnetron sputtering techniques for depositing low-loss Al2O3 optical layers and methods for heterogeneous integration of KY(WO4)2 crystals.
