Carla Moleiro is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social and Organizational Psychology at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon. She serves as Director and Integrated Researcher at the Center for Social Research and Intervention (CIS-Iscte), where she leads multiple research initiatives focused on mental health and diversity.

Dr. Moleiro's educational background includes a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2003), a Master's in Counseling Psychology (2001), and a Bachelor's in Psychology from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, University of Lisbon (1997). She also completed postgraduate studies in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychotherapy (2004).
Her research interests focus on clinical psychology with emphasis on mental health of diverse populations. She specializes in working with immigrant, refugee, and ethnic and sexual minority (LGBTQIA+) clients, as well as developing clinical competencies for individual and cultural diversity. Her work spans community psychology, ethics, and interventions with at-risk populations including child protection.
Dr. Moleiro has been actively involved in numerous research projects addressing mental health promotion, trauma support, cyberbullying, hate speech, and social integration. Her projects demonstrate a consistent focus on vulnerable populations and mental health equity.
She has served as Principal Investigator or Lead Researcher on multiple significant projects including BeWell-Iscte (2024-2026), HEARTS (2023-2025), kNOwHATE (2022-2024), and WAY OUT (2020-2022), among others dating back to 2014.
Her scholarly contributions are substantial, with 58 publications indexed in Web of Science (1198 citations), 69 in Scopus (1124 citations), and 61 in Google Scholar (664 citations), reflecting significant impact in her fields of expertise.
Dr. Moleiro directs the Center for Social Research and Intervention (CIS-Iscte), where her team conducts research on mental health promotion in higher education, trauma support, bias-based cyberbullying, online hate speech, and integration of vulnerable populations including LGBTQIA+ migrants and refugees.
