Carla Eichler

Dr. Carla Eichler is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Life, Earth, and Environmental Sciences at West Texas A&M University's Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences. She joined the faculty in August 2024, bringing expertise in geoscience and sedimentary basin analysis.

Dr. Eichler specializes in sediment provenance studies using detrital zircon U-Pb geochronology and petrography. Her research focuses on basin formation processes and sediment distribution patterns, with particular emphasis on Cenozoic sediments in the High Plains region and Late Cretaceous basin development in the western United States.

She currently teaches physical geology courses and serves as faculty advisor for the WTAMU Geology Society. Prior to her academic appointment, Dr. Eichler worked as a field geologist for the Oklahoma Geological Survey (2021-2024) following a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Houston (2020-2021).
