Dr. Carla Cesaroni is a Professor and Associate Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies in the Criminology and Justice department at Ontario Tech University's Faculty of Social Science and Humanities. She earned her PhD in Criminology from the University of Toronto and has been with Ontario Tech since 2005.
Her research examines critical issues in corrections and youth justice, with specific focus on:
- Experiences of incarcerated boys and young men
- Trauma and masculinity in prison settings
- Youth perspectives on police interactions
- Role of religion in prison life
- Prison chaplaincy practices
Dr. Cesaroni teaches courses on Punishment and Society, The Prison Experience, and Green Criminology. She has supervised student research on diverse topics including partners of incarcerated individuals, policing of terrorism, transgender experiences in justice systems, and correctional officer-youth relationships.
