Carl Paris

Carl Paris is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY), affiliated with the Africana Studies department. He holds a Ph.D. in Dance Studies from Temple University (Philadelphia), an M.A. in Dance and Dance Education from NYU (1999), a B.A. in Spanish, French, and Latin American Studies from NYU's School of Arts and Sciences (1972, magna cum laude), and an A.A. from Mercer County Community College (1970, suma cum laude, valedictorian). His expertise spans Dance Theory and History, Cultural Studies, Critical Pedagogy, Gender Studies, and Africana Studies/Black Performance and Culture.
