Carl J. Circo is the Ben J. Altheimer Professor of Legal Advocacy at the University of Arkansas School of Law, where he has been a faculty member since 2003. He teaches courses including Property, Real Estate Transactions, Construction Law, Literature and Law, Land Use, and Interviewing, Counseling, and Negotiating. Professor Circo holds a B.A. in Philosophy (1971) and a J.D. (1976) from the University of Nebraska, where he graduated first in his class.
His research focuses on construction law, real estate transactions, and sustainable development, with emphasis on contract theory, green building initiatives, and land use policy. His scholarly work analyzes how construction industry practices influence contract law evolution and advocates for legal frameworks supporting sustainable construction.
Professor Circo's publications demonstrate consistent focus on construction industry jurisprudence, contract interpretation, and sustainability. Recent works explore Supreme Court impacts on construction law, statutory adjudication, and interdisciplinary connections between law and humanities. His 2020 book Contract Law in the Construction Industry Context is a significant open-access resource.
