Professor Carl Grodach is the Foundation Professor of Urban Planning & Design at Monash University and former inaugural Director of Urban Planning and Design (2017-2022). He holds a Ph.D. in Urban Planning from UCLA. His research focuses on urban manufacturing, circular economy, creative industries, and cultural planning. Grodach has authored books including Urban Revitalization (2015) and edited The Politics of Urban Cultural Policy (2013). He leads projects like the Melbourne Experiment, analyzing post-COVID urban dynamics, and co-edits City, Culture, and Society. He has supervised graduate students Corey Ferguson and Nícolas Guerra Tão. His work is funded by ARC and international organizations. Grodach is affiliated with the Monash Urban Lab, focusing on projects like 20-Minute Neighbourhoods and iHUB digital infrastructure.
