Dr. Carl Drexler is a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas and serves as the Station Archaeologist for the Arkansas Archeological Survey's facility at Southern Arkansas University. He is affiliated with the Department of History, Political Science & Geography. His research focuses on conflict studies, GIS applications, historical archaeology, forensic archaeology, landscape studies, and the historical memory of marginalized communities, particularly the Caddo people of southwest Arkansas.

Dr. Drexler has extensive professional experience with organizations such as the National Park Service’s Midwest Archeological Center, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, and the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center. He is a member of the Arkansas Archeological Society, Society for Historical Archaeology, and Society for American Archaeology, and represents Arkansas on the Caddo Conference Organization. His work spans multiple U.S. regions and international sites in Mexico, the British Virgin Islands, and Cuba.
His research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to understanding historical conflicts, cultural landscapes, and Indigenous histories. He actively engages in public archaeology and heritage preservation initiatives.
