Education:
- Ph.D., Stockholm University
- M.S., Lund University, Sweden
Her research centers on historical and international crime-welfare policy intersections, particularly examining how marginalized group protections evolved over the last century through comparative U.S.-Sweden analyses. She investigates victim movement origins, welfare state influences on victim support systems, and carceral policy impacts, while pioneering technology-driven global pedagogy through virtual international exchanges that connect students across borders.
Analysis of her 15 most recent publications reveals consistent focus on Swedish victimology frameworks within welfare states, with growing emphasis on pandemic-era criminal justice challenges and technological innovations in education. Her work demonstrates methodological diversity spanning historical analysis, organizational studies, and cross-national comparisons.
Scientific Awards:
- Excellence in Teaching Award at Stockholm University (2010)
- Burmeister Award from the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) (2015)
Gallo has secured significant research funding from the Swedish Crime Victim Fund, Swedish Royal Academy of Science, and Sweden-America Foundation. Her grant work supports comparative victimology studies and international educational collaborations. As a first-generation college graduate, she mentors through virtual exchange programs and co-leads the Bay Area Scholar Strategy Network chapter, connecting academic research with public policy.
She directs virtual international exchanges between Swedish and U.S. criminology students and co-leads the Bay Area Scholar Strategy Network chapter, fostering researcher-policymaker collaborations focused on criminal justice and social welfare reforms.
