Candida Ferrero Hernandez

Candida Ferrero Hernandez serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Ancient and Medieval History at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where she is affiliated with the Institute for Medieval Studies and leads the research group Islamolatina. She actively supervises PhD candidates and directs major international projects on Mediterranean transcultural relations.

Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. (2002) and Llicenciat (1983), both from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Her research centers on medieval and early modern intercultural dynamics in the Mediterranean basin, with emphasis on Christian-Muslim-Jewish interactions, Latin translations of Islamic texts (particularly the Quran), and the role of controversy in shaping European identity. She employs philological and historical methods to analyze manuscript transmission and intellectual exchange, focusing on figures like Robert of Ketton and Juan Luis Vives.
