Dr. Camino Kavanagh is a Visiting Professor at the Department of War Studies, King’s College London, within the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. She specializes in international security, geopolitics, cyber intelligence, and critical infrastructure protection, with a focus on subsea infrastructure and digital technologies in conflict contexts.
- Senior Advisor, UN Department of Political Affairs’ Policy and Mediation Division
- Advisor/Rapporteur to UN cyber/ICT negotiating processes (2019-2021, 2016-2017)
- Active in Track 1.5 and Track 2 cyber diplomacy initiatives
- Member, King’s Cybersecurity Centre (EPSRC-NCSC Academic Centre of Excellence)
Her research explores intersections of cybersecurity, diplomacy, and crisis management, informed by over a decade of fieldwork in conflict/post-conflict zones. Publications highlight subsea cable security, cyber norms, and technology in UN operations, with recent work on critical infrastructure resilience (2024) and cyber governance (2023).
She is affiliated with two research groups at King’s: the Cyber Security Research Group and the King's Cybersecurity Centre, which focuses on interdisciplinary cyber threats and defense strategies. Her advisory roles span governments, NATO, and UN entities.
