Camille J. Wynn is an Assistant Professor in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Houston's College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience with an emphasis in Speech-Language Pathology from Utah State University. Dr. Wynn's research focuses on conversational coordination skills development in neurotypical and autistic adolescents, examining how breakdowns in speech coordination affect individuals with communication disorders.
Her research interests include acoustic-prosodic entrainment, conversational speech behaviors, articulatory precision in autism, and methodological frameworks for studying communication disorders. She explores how rhythmic abilities and contextual factors influence conversational success across different populations.
Dr. Wynn's publications reveal consistent research trends in communication disorders, with emphases on conversational dynamics, speech entrainment patterns, autism spectrum communication, and methodological considerations in speech research. Her work frequently employs acoustic-prosodic analysis and comparative studies across neurotypical and neurodiverse populations.
Awards include:
- Lessons for Success Award, ASHA (2023)
- Doctoral Student Researcher of the Year, USU (2022)
- New Century Doctoral Fellowship (2019)
- Meritorious Poster Award, ASHA (2019)
She has supervised multiple graduate students including Vijaya Varshaa Vijayan, Lisa Beccera, and Kathleen Bradbury. Her research has been funded by NIH/NIDCD and Utah State University grants examining acoustic-prosodic entrainment in autism spectrum disorder.
Dr. Wynn directs a research lab focused on speech coordination development and maintains professional activities including committee memberships for ASHA conventions and journal reviewing.
