Camila Huerta Alvarez

Camila Huerta Alvarez serves as an Assistant Professor of Sociology in the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts at the University of California, Merced.

Dr. Huerta Alvarez's research focuses on integrating theories from the sociology of race and ethnicity to environmental justice issues. She employs various methodological approaches including panel, spatial, and multilevel modeling in her research. Her dual background in sociology and mathematics informs her analytical approach to social issues.

Dr. Huerta Alvarez earned her Ph.D. and M.S. in Sociology from the University of Oregon. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she received double bachelor's degrees in Sociology and Mathematics.

As a new faculty member at UC Merced, she contributes to the Sociology department's research and teaching mission, bringing expertise at the intersection of race/ethnicity studies and environmental concerns.
