Camila Alday

Dr Camila Alday is a Research Fellow hosted by the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research within the Department of Archaeology at the University of Cambridge, specializing in South American prehistory with emphasis on plant-based material culture and environmental contexts.

Her core research interests include:

• Archaeobotany of textile crops and bast fibres
• Material culture analysis and artefact technology
• Environmental archaeology, geoarchaeology, and landscape evolution
• Hunter-gatherer societies in the Americas

Dr Alday's work directly supports the department's research themes of Material Culture and Rethinking Complexity, leveraging the McDonald Institute's archaeological science infrastructure for studies spanning prehistoric periods across the Americas.
