معرفی
Cameron Metcalf, PhD, is a Researcher in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Utah's College of Pharmacy. He serves as the Associate Director of the Anticonvulsant Drug Development (ADD) Program and Co-Investigator for NIH/NINDS grants, with expertise in preclinical drug development for epilepsy and pain. His lab focuses on three pillars: novel therapies for epilepsy, understanding SUDEP mechanisms, and developing biomarkers to reduce epilepsy-related mortality.
- Education:
- BS in Biology, Human Development and Family Studies - University of Utah
- PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology - University of Utah
Dr. Metcalf's research spans neuropeptide-based treatments, epilepsy mortality pathways, and translational models for drug screening. He has advanced rodent models for NIH's Epilepsy Therapy Screening Program and collaborated with pharmaceutical companies to develop compounds now in clinical trials. His work on galanin analogs explores novel anticonvulsant mechanisms and combination therapies.
Publications highlight expertise in epilepsy pharmacology, SUDEP pathophysiology, and digital therapeutics. The ADD Program, funded continuously since 1975, evaluates 800-1000 compounds annually and provided training for students in neurobiology, pharmacology, and clinical research.
