Cam Donaldson

Cam Donaldson is a Professor and Yunus Chair & Distinguished Professor of Health Economics at the Yunus Centre, Glasgow Caledonian University. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Aberdeen (1996). His research focuses on health economics, microfinance and health, and social business/social enterprise impacts on health. He actively contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health equity and poverty reduction.

Donaldson has led or co-led multiple research projects, including studies on Universal Basic Income's health impacts, financial diaries of UK households, and realist economic evaluation methods for complex interventions. He collaborates internationally, addressing topics like market failures in credit markets and post-COVID financial wellbeing.

His recent publications (2023–2025) analyze healthcare financing, pandemic economics, and policy trade-offs in health systems. He emphasizes integrating societal values into health prioritization and exploring innovative financing mechanisms for equitable healthcare access.

Donaldson’s work includes evaluating community-led health initiatives, social enterprise contributions to health outcomes, and methodologies for priority-setting in integrated health systems. He is actively involved in policy debates around NHS funding and universal healthcare models.
