Calina Ciuhu

Calina Ciuhu is an Assistant Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology, affiliated with the Electromechanics Lab and EAISI (Eindhoven Artificial Intelligence Systems Institute). Previously, she worked as a Senior Scientist at Philips Research Laboratories (2003–2023) and completed her PhD in theoretical physics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (2002).

Her research focuses on hybrid physics-data-driven approaches in electromechanics and health-tech, including:

• Medical image analysis
• Biomedical signal processing (e.g., photoplethysmography)
• 3D parametric body modeling
• Core body temperature monitoring

Recent research outputs highlight non-invasive physiological monitoring and cross-sector data exchange between healthcare and fashion. She contributes to projects like TKI-HTSM, advancing piezoelectric systems for lithography, and teaches Advanced Actuator Design.
