Caleb Gallemore is an Associate Professor of International Affairs at Lafayette College, based in the Oechsle Center for Global Education. He holds a Ph.D. in Geography from The Ohio State University (2013), an M.A. in Political Science with an International Relations focus (2008), and a B.A. in International Studies from Missouri Southern State University (2006). His research focuses on deforestation policy effectiveness, transnational networks, and global commodity chains, with regional expertise in Southeast Asia and Africa.
Teaching emphasizes critical thinking, data analysis (GIS, coding), and real-world applications for careers in environmental organizations, NGOs, and government roles. Courses include Mapping World Cities (urban geography), sustainability assessments, and geographic information science. He actively involves students in research through Lafayette’s EXCEL program, fostering hands-on engagement in projects like climate-smart coffee initiatives and palm oil certification studies.
Research highlights include analyzing deforestation drivers in Indonesia’s palm oil industry, evaluating sustainability certification programs (e.g., Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil), and studying governance networks in Tanzania’s forest management. Awards include the 2022 Thomas Roy and Lura Forest Jones Faculty Lecture Award. He also coaches the Model UN team, fostering student networks and professional development.
