Calantha Phillips is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Washington State University (WSU). She holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame (2019) and a BA in Philosophy from the University of Kentucky (2011). Her research focuses on metasemantics, metaontology, and methodology in metaphysics, with interdisciplinary work at the intersection of philosophy of technology, bioethics, and disability studies. She explores topics like linguistic meaning determination for humans and AI, the rationality of time biases, and transformative experiences in caregiving relationships.
Teaching interests include Metaphysics, Philosophy of Language, Biomedical Ethics, and Formal Logic. She has organized workshops such as the Graduate Women in Metaphysics (2016) and contributed to debates on ontological disputes and AI semantics. Phillips advocates for accessible and inclusive approaches to philosophy, particularly through online activism for disability rights movements.
