Caitlyn Thompson is a Lecturer at San Diego State University (SDSU), specializing in linguistics, creative writing, and endangered language documentation. She holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from SDSU, an M.A. in Linguistics with a focus on endangered language documentation and conservation from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, and a B.A. in Literature from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with minors in German Studies and Linguistics.
Her research focuses on documenting and revitalizing endangered Native American languages, particularly the Kumeyaay languages. She also engages with communities to support their language preservation goals. Teaching interests include rhetoric, literature, Native American history, and endangered languages.
