Dr. Caitlin Curtis is a Lecturer in the School of Business and Research Fellow in the Centre for Policy Futures at The University of Queensland, specializing in the societal impacts of science and emerging technologies. She holds a PhD from the University of South Florida and focuses on applied ethics, digital governance, and genomics. Her roles include teaching Responsible Artificial Intelligence and coordinating the UQ AI Collaboratory's public engagement initiatives.
Her research bridges science and humanities to address ethical, legal, and social challenges posed by AI and genomics. Key affiliations include Queensland Digital Health Centre, Centre for Digital Cultures & Societies, and School of Public Health. She has advised on national policy reviews, including the Privacy Act 1988 and Senate AI Committee.
Dr. Curtis has received prestigious awards such as the ABC Top 5 Scientist Media Residency and Tall Poppy Science Award. Her work spans over 50 publications, emphasizing public trust in AI and genomic data governance. She collaborates with organizations like KPMG on global AI trust studies and engages policymakers through parliamentary briefings and media commentary.
