Dr. Caitlin Carenen is a Professor and Department Chair of History at Eastern Connecticut State University. Her research focuses on intersections of American religious history with foreign policy, particularly U.S.-Israeli relations, Arab-Israeli conflict, and terrorism studies. She teaches courses on the Cold War, Vietnam War, American religious history, and U.S. engagement in the Middle East. Her book The Fervent Embrace (2012) explores Protestant and evangelical influences on pro-Israel sentiment in America. Dr. Carenen holds a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Georgia and a Ph.D. from Emory University. She leads Global Studies field courses to the Middle East, emphasizing experiential learning through visits to sites like Palestinian refugee camps and Israel’s Holocaust Museum.
