Dr. Cain Todd is a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at Lancaster University's School of Global Affairs, specializing in aesthetics, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of perception. During 2021-22, he held a visiting position at LMU Munich (Humboldt Foundation's Bessel Research Prize) and a Visiting Senior Research Fellowship at the University of Antwerp's Centre for Philosophical Psychology. Previously, he worked at the Institut Jean Nicod (Paris), the University of Geneva, and the University of Fribourg (Switzerland).
Research Interests: His work explores the intersection of aesthetics, emotion, and cognitive processes, including the role of imagination in perception, emotional evaluation of fiction, olfactory perception, and aesthetic judgments in science and mathematics. He is currently completing a book titled Aesthetics and Emotion (Bloomsbury, 2024).
