CHERITH MOSES is a Professor of Geomorphology at the University of Sussex, serving as Head of the Department of History, Geography & Social Sciences. She holds a PhD from Queen’s University Belfast (1994) and has held academic roles at the University of Brighton (1993–1995), Australian National University (1991–1992), and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (2008). Her research focuses on rock coast erosion dynamics, coastal resilience to climate change, and marine environmental sustainability, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to climate action and sustainable cities.
She leads the EMODnet Geology Coastal Behaviour initiative and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology. Her work integrates field observations, geospatial analysis, and climate modeling to assess coastal vulnerability across Europe and Thailand. Moses has authored over 60 publications and serves on editorial boards, peer review panels, and international committees such as the European Commission’s Marine Observation Group.
Key achievements include fellowships from the Geological Society of London and Royal Geographical Society, leadership roles in the British Society for Geomorphology, and extensive external examining experience at institutions like UCL and Queen’s University Belfast.
