CARMEN MARIA ABREU FERNANDEZ

Carmen Maria Abreu Fernandez is a full-time researcher affiliated with the Materials Engineering, Applied Mechanics and Construction department at the University of Vigo. She works within the CI11 ENCOMAT (Corrosion and Materials Engineering) research group under the Research Center in Technologies, Energy and Industrial Processes.

• Doctorate in Materials Science (University of Vigo, 1996) for research on zinc-rich paints
• Doctorate in Industrial Engineering (University of Vigo, 1999) for work on voice transmission over data networks

Her research focuses on materials protection, corrosion engineering, and industrial process optimization, with significant contributions to understanding material degradation mechanisms and protective coatings.

As part of the School of Industrial Engineering, she advances applications in metallurgical engineering, construction materials, and industrial technologies. Her work spans both fundamental studies and practical solutions for industrial challenges.

Her academic collaboration includes supervision of doctoral theses in materials science and industrial engineering domains.
