C.J. Stephenson

C.J. Stephenson is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry at Loyola University New Orleans. He specializes in supramolecular organic chemistry, focusing on the development of fluorescent platforms for sensing analytes and studying molecular interactions.

• Degrees: Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina (2008), B.S. from Mississippi College (2003)

His research includes modifying xanthene dyes for chiral sensing, creating fluorescent polymeric materials for purification methods, and investigating supramolecular interactions under physical stress. Recent work explores prochelators for copper-stress detection and molecular imprinting in polymer sensors.

Dr. Stephenson has contributed to journals like Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry and Dalton Transactions, with a focus on fluorescent systems and their analytical applications. His accolades include the August Elmer, Jr. Distinguished Professor in Chemistry.
