C. Patrick Lusk is an Associate Professor of Cell Biology at Yale University's School of Medicine. He serves as Co-Director of the Molecular Cell Biology, Genetics and Development Track and the Cellular, Molecular, and Quantitative Biology Training Program. His research focuses on nuclear envelope biogenesis, nuclear pore complex assembly, and nuclear transport mechanisms. Dr. Lusk earned his PhD from the University of Alberta and completed postdoctoral training under Nobel Laureate Günter Blobel at Rockefeller University.
- Education:
- BS in Biochemistry, University of Alberta (1998)
- PhD in Biochemistry, University of Alberta (2005)
- Postdoctoral Fellow, Rockefeller University (2009)
His lab, the LusKing Lab (co-led with Megan King), investigates nuclear structure and integrity using interdisciplinary approaches, including super-resolution microscopy and proteomics. Key research themes include nuclear envelope quality control, autophagy mechanisms, and HIV-1 nuclear entry. Dr. Lusk co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications, with recent work highlighted in Nature Cell Biology and Science Advances.
He collaborates extensively with researchers in biophysics, genetics, and virology, advancing our understanding of nuclear membrane dynamics and their implications in diseases like ALS. The lab prioritizes training the next generation of scientists through graduate and postdoctoral programs.
