Dr. C. Nathan Hatton is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of History at Lakehead University. He holds a PhD in History from the University of Waterloo, an MA in History from Lakehead University, a BEd from the University of Ottawa, and a BA Honours in History from Wilfrid Laurier University. His research focuses on the intersections of sport, culture, and public engagement in Canadian society.

Dr. Hatton explores the social and cultural implications of sport in Canada, with a particular emphasis on combat sports and their impact on participants and spectators. He also integrates his expertise in sport history into his coaching of submission grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, where he emphasizes the historical evolution of techniques and strategies.
