C. Nathan DeWall is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Kentucky. His research focuses on social exclusion, self-regulation, and aggression, with additional interests in social neuroscience, consumer behavior, and the psychology of religion. He holds a Ph.D. from Florida State University (2007) and has authored/co-authored multiple influential textbooks including Psychology (Worth Publishers), Exploring Psychology, and Psychology of Everyday Life.
His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and the John Templeton Foundation. Key areas of exploration include how social rejection influences aggression, the neurological basis of self-regulation, and the application of psychological principles to organizational settings. Recent work examines the role of religious deidentification in consumer behavior and moral decision-making.
His publications span high-impact journals such as Psychological Science, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience. He is also known for innovative methods like the Voodoo Doll Task to measure aggressive tendencies. His interdisciplinary approach bridges social, clinical, and neuropsychological perspectives.
