C. Joseph Genetin-Pilawa is a Professor in the Department of History and Art History at George Mason University. His research focuses on 19th-century U.S. history, Indigenous histories, and public history, particularly examining Indigenous landscapes in Washington D.C.

His work explores Indigenous resistance, federal policy debates, and the symbolic use of land and monuments. Articles in Journal of Women’s History, Western Historical Quarterly, and The Capitol Dome highlight his interdisciplinary approach.
