C. Jason Woodard is currently a Professor of Engineering and Entrepreneurship at Olin College of Engineering, where he is on leave. His academic journey began with an A.B. from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Information, Technology and Management from Harvard University.

Woodard's research focuses on the evolution of complex product and system designs, particularly the interplay between software architecture and competitive strategy. He investigates how decisions about interfaces, protocols, and standards impact economic and social outcomes in platform ecosystems. His work bridges engineering design and economic modeling using computational simulation and qualitative field studies.

Prior to academia, he worked at IBM as a technical evangelist for Java, XML, and Linux initiatives. His academic career includes serving as an Assistant Professor at Singapore Management University (2006-2015).
