Cédric Chambru

Cédric Chambru is an Associate Professor of Economics at École normale supérieure de Lyon and research fellow at the Center for Economic Research on Governance, Inequality and Conflict (CERGIC). His research examines institutional development, social conflict dynamics, and living standards using historical data sources.

Research focuses on:

• French revolutionary state-building effects
• Historical social conflict database development
• Colonial education impacts
• Pre-industrial wage patterns

He directs graduate studies and co-maintains the Historical Social Conflict Database (HiSCoD) containing over 20,000 conflict episodes. Recent projects analyze parliamentary behavior in revolutionary Normandy and biological living standards of Swiss mercenaries.

Awards recognition includes finalist for Gino Luzzatto Prize and multiple research grants. He organizes the Lyon Summer School in Empirical Research Methods and serves on scientific councils including the Journées de l'économie.
