Cécile Peltekian is a department scientific manager at Institut Pasteur, where she manages three key departments: Immunology, Cell Biology of Infection, and Developmental & Stem Cell Biology since January 2025. Previously, she served as head of the Basic Research Department at ANRS- Emerging Infectious Diseases (ANRS-MIE) starting October 2021, and contributed to the Carnot Pasteur Microbes & Health research and innovation programme since 2015.
Her research interests span virology, immunology, and emerging infectious diseases, with specific expertise in Hepatitis B virus, HTLV-1, HIV/AIDS, and interferon response mechanisms. Peltekian's work demonstrates a consistent focus on viral pathogenesis and host defense mechanisms, particularly the antiviral activity of MxA protein against various viruses.
Her publication record reveals a strong trajectory from fundamental virology research to applied public health initiatives, with recent work addressing the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and HIV vaccine development. Her expertise bridges laboratory research and strategic program management in infectious disease response.
Peltekian earned her Ph.D. in fundamental Virology with research on Interferon antiviral effect against Hepatitis B virus at Inserm U370/Institute Pasteur Paris, followed by postdoctoral work on Human T Lymphotropic Virus type 1 (HTLV-1) transmission at Imperial College London's Department of Immunology.
