Bénédicte DECOURT HOLLENDER is a Lecturer HDR (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches) in History of Law and Institutions at Université Côte d'Azur's Faculty of Law and Political Science. Her research focuses on the history of law and institutions, justice systems, private law, the legal frameworks of the former States of Savoy, and colonial law.
Her scholarly interests encompass medieval legal institutions, normative systems, and the historical development of family law. She examines how legal frameworks evolved within the Savoyard states, analyzing the relationship between local customs and centralized legal authority, as well as the transformation of judicial personnel and practices over time.
DECOURT HOLLENDER has published extensively on historical legal topics, with recent work focusing on the States of Savoy, colonial justice in Algeria, and the historical development of legal institutions in the Nice region. Her publications demonstrate a consistent engagement with how legal systems interacted with social structures, political power, and community organization throughout European history.

As an academic advisor, she has supervised doctoral research on topics including Northern Savoy notables and Savoyard diplomacy. She also serves on thesis committees for research concerning family law, matrimonial systems, and criminology. Within the university, she participates in the Scientific Committee of Academy 5 'Men, ideas, environments' (2020-2025), the CAC Research Commission (2016-2017), and the Scientific Committee of PRIDAES (Research Program on Law and Institutions of the States of Savoy).
