Burak Acar is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bogazici University. He directs the VAVlab and holds affiliations with Bogazici Universitys Center for Life Sciences and Koc University KUIS AI Lab. Acar earned his BS, MS, and PhD in Electrical Engineering from Bilkent University, with doctoral research conducted at St. George’s Hospital Medical School.
His research spans signal/image processing and machine learning for medical/industrial diagnostics. Key applications include cancer imaging, financial analytics, and predictive maintenance systems. Methodologies leverage computational modeling, feature extraction, and classification algorithms.
Awarded the Turkish Academy of Sciences Young Researcher Award (2008) and Bogazici University Excellence in Research Award (2006), Acar holds patents and has received over 2,000 citations. His laboratory develops novel approaches for prognostics in healthcare and manufacturing domains.
