Bryony Anne Tolhurst is a Senior Lecturer and Panel Tutor at the University of Cambridge, with affiliations as an honorary research fellow at the University of Brighton and a consultant for the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT). Her academic journey includes a BSc (Hons) in Zoology from the University of Manchester, an MSc in Wildlife Management and Conservation from the University of Reading, and a PhD in Mammal Behavioural Ecology from the University of Sussex.
Her research focuses on urban mammal ecology, disease ecology, human-wildlife conflict, and biologging techniques. She advocates for Research-Focussed-Experiential Learning, emphasizing fieldwork and citizen science initiatives. Bryony has led projects with Earthwatch Institute in South Africa and Ecuador, as well as the Hedgehog Friendly Campus in the UK.
Her teaching style prioritizes interactivity, humor, and real-world relevance, fostering peer-to-peer learning and critical thinking. She actively mentors adult learners and those in non-traditional career paths in ecology and conservation.
