Bryon Donohoe is a Research Fellow at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) within the Biosciences Center, focusing on bioenergy research. His work bridges structural biology and plant/algal cell biology to investigate cell wall assembly, enzymatic deconstruction, and biomass conversion processes.
Education:
- Bachelor's in Biological Science, Colorado State University
- Ph.D. in Molecular/Cellular Biology, University of Colorado Boulder
- Master's in Biology, University of Colorado Denver
Research interests include unraveling the biochemical and biophysical principles governing cell wall architecture, developing enzyme systems for biomass deconstruction, and advancing pretreatment technologies. His recent publications highlight innovations in biomass characterization, fungal metabolic pathways, and phase change material stabilization. He is also active in microscopy techniques like electron tomography to study macromolecular structures.
Scientific Awards:
- NREL Distinguished Member of Research Staff (2024)
Donohoe contributes to professional networks such as the American Society of Plant Biologists and the Microscopy Society of America. His email is Bryon.Donohoe@nrel.gov.
