Bryen A. Jordan

Bryen A. Jordan is a Professor in the Dominick P. Purpura Department of Neuroscience and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He also serves as Associate Director of the Rose F. Kennedy Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center. His research focuses on mechanisms linking synaptic activity to gene expression, with a particular emphasis on proteomic analyses of synapses, RNA transport, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and ANKS1B haploinsufficiency syndrome.

His work integrates molecular, cellular, and systems-level approaches to study synaptic plasticity, synapse-to-nucleus communication, and the role of RNA-binding proteins in neuronal function. Recent studies include identifying AIDA-1 as a critical regulator of synaptic transmission and social behavior, and leveraging proteomic techniques to compare synaptic deficits across ASD mouse models. His lab has also characterized the ANKS1B neurodevelopmental syndrome, using patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and transgenic mice to elucidate molecular mechanisms.

Publications highlight his contributions to understanding synaptic proteomes, the role of Sam68 in dendritic protein synthesis, and the convergence of molecular pathways in ASD.
