Bryce Sadtler is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis. His research focuses on imaging and controlling chemical transformations in inorganic nanostructures, with specialties in solar energy conversion, light-matter interactions, catalysis, and nanoscale materials. He leads the Sadtler Research Group, which explores the reactivity heterogeneity in semiconductor nanocrystals and develops adaptive materials responsive to external stimuli.

Research Interests: Dr. Sadtler’s work combines single-particle fluorescence imaging, chemically activated fluorogenic probes, and solution-phase synthesis to study metastable compounds and nanostructure growth. His team investigates how oxygen vacancy distribution influences photocatalytic activity in metal oxides, designs stimuli-responsive inorganic materials, and develops methods to synthesize metastable semiconductor phases for applications in nanophotonics and quantum computation.
