Bryce Rowland

Bryce Rowland, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, affiliated with the Collaborative Studies Coordinating Center (CSCC) and the Gillings School of Global Public Health. His research focuses on precision medicine, clinical trial design (including SMART trials), and applied biostatistics. He co-leads NIH- and PCORI-funded clinical trials in chronic pain and cardiovascular disease.

Education: PhD in Biostatistics from UNC Chapel Hill (2022); BS in Mathematics from Centre College (2017). Recognized with the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (2019-2022) and the Brown Fellows Scholarship during undergraduate studies.

Research emphasizes methodological innovations in genomics and clinical research, including polygenic risk scoring, transcriptome-wide association studies (TWAS), and deconvolution methods for genomic data. Recent work addresses challenges in admixed populations and underrepresented groups in genetic studies.

Teaching & Mentorship: Committed to training collaborative biostatisticians through hands-on mentorship at the CSCC. Serves as a co-investigator on multi-site clinical trials involving adaptive treatment strategies and biomarker development.
