Bryan S. Weber is an Associate Professor at the College of Staten Island (CUNY) and holds a faculty position at the CUNY Graduate Center. He is also a Research Fellow at the University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City. His research focuses on applied econometrics, urban economics, transportation, labor economics, and digital entertainment. He teaches courses such as Econometrics, Big Data Analytics, and Behavioral Economics. His work integrates machine learning and statistical methods to address real-world policy questions, particularly in urban and labor market contexts. He serves as an Associate Editor for Evaluation Review and Journal of Asian Business and Economics, and has contributed to peer review and editorial work in academic publishing.
His research interests include analyzing the impacts of transportation policies, digital platforms, and public policies on urban crime, labor markets, and economic behavior. Notable projects include studies on the effects of tax hikes on ridership, the implications of ferry transit for urban safety, and machine-learning-driven analyses of firm responses to crises like the pandemic. His work often bridges theoretical economic models with applied data science, leveraging tools like causal inference and experimental design.
Bryan is actively involved in academic software development, as seen in his GitHub contributions, including the CUNYAIModule project focused on AI for StarCraft gameplay. This demonstrates his interest in applying economic principles to adversarial environments and algorithmic decision-making. His interdisciplinary approach spans economics, data science, and policy analysis, with a strong emphasis on reproducibility and empirical rigor.
