Bryan Mann is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of History at Texas State University, specializing in Tudor/Stuart Britain. He serves as Program Director for the History Department’s Study Abroad Program in Chester, England. His research focuses on the Lord Lieutenancy, local government, and the origins of the English Civil Wars in the 17th century.

Research Interests: Dr. Mann explores the administrative structures of Tudor/Stuart England, particularly the role of Lord Lieutenants in local governance. His work addresses the political and social dynamics leading to the English Civil Wars, with a focus on regional case studies like Cambridgeshire during the Bishops’ Wars.
Teaching: Teaches undergraduate courses on Western Civilization, World Civilization, and English history from Roman times to the 17th century, as well as graduate seminars on the Tudors and Stuarts.
